Session C

Thank you for all the hard work you have done these past weeks.  You will be planning your lesson soon with either Denise or Mary.  The kids are loving learning about Japan so it will be fun.  There are many resources for you to use.  Don't forget to include video or visuals in your lesson.  Also, don't forget to attend the Elementary Literacy Conference on Friday.  I can't believe we are going to meet Marc Brown!

Week Three Session B

I can not believe we are already into your third week and March.  I am excited about the lessons I see developing.  When I plan a lesson I think of ways I can use literature and resources.  For our children that are motivated by the topic or are high level learners I try to provide additional materials so they can continue working on the topic.  There are some very kid friendly on line sites that are very exciting.  I also look for ways I can support the children who have limited prior knowledge or need the connection with visuals and limited print.
The other thing I try to bring into the lesson is transitions.  I know kids can not sit for more than 15 to twenty minutes before they have to move.  The trick is how do I want them to move and how do I smoothly get them there.  I have seen students use dance and music in some fun ways.  We can talk about these as we plan your lessons.
Thank you for all your hard work.  Enjoy your spring break... be safe and get rested.  Take care.

Session B: Welcome to Unit II

Last week was a busy week for everyone.  The Unit II kids are sad to see our Session A Teacher Friends leave but are excited our new friends are here.  This week we will begin a new unit called Northern Friends.  Our focus will be on the people, culture and environment around the Arctic Circle.  We also are doing a number of assessments in preparation for Parent Teacher Conferences.  This will be something you can be involved in.
Today we will participate in the African American Read In held at the Rod Library and Union.  I hope you will be able to join us.
Finally, strange things happen during the month of March in Unit II.  Mrs. Barness and myself have quite a bit of green blood flowing through us.  In the past, a few of the wee ones have visited our rooms so get ready for Unit II's version of March Madness!  Erin Go Braugh! (Long live Ireland)

Session A: Week One

Welcome to Unit II!

This week you will meet some interesting little and big folks.  Many of you have had the chance to participate in J Term activities as well.  What have you noticed about about the classroom environment?  What have you discovered about the room arrangement?  How does this room compare to rooms you have seen in the past?

JTerm is a special time where children can explore indepth areas of interest.  What experiences have you had so far?  Have you seen other special interest group work?

We are REALLY  glad you have joined us.  The kids are excited to have their new teacher friends here!
