Week Three Session B

I can not believe we are already into your third week and March.  I am excited about the lessons I see developing.  When I plan a lesson I think of ways I can use literature and resources.  For our children that are motivated by the topic or are high level learners I try to provide additional materials so they can continue working on the topic.  There are some very kid friendly on line sites that are very exciting.  I also look for ways I can support the children who have limited prior knowledge or need the connection with visuals and limited print.
The other thing I try to bring into the lesson is transitions.  I know kids can not sit for more than 15 to twenty minutes before they have to move.  The trick is how do I want them to move and how do I smoothly get them there.  I have seen students use dance and music in some fun ways.  We can talk about these as we plan your lessons.
Thank you for all your hard work.  Enjoy your spring break... be safe and get rested.  Take care.

  1. Just a reminder that parent teacher conferences will be next week on Thursday and Friday. We will have school in the morning on Thursday but not Thursday afternoon or Friday. We will be meeting with parents at those times. You are welcome to use some of your hours to observe parent teacher conferences if you choose to. You can look at the schedule on Monday and let Mary and I know when you would like to sit in. Most of our parents are very willing to let UNI students observe. We will also finish up lessons this week. It's hard to believe Session B is almost over. Let me know if you have any questions before next week. Hope you are enjoying your spring break.

  2. During my first week at price lab I experiened many new things in the classroom that I didn't experience in my level 1. One thing i really enjoyed was how the classroom was set up and the different things around the classroom. I really liked how the classroom atmosphere is based on what the students are studying. For instance last week the students were studying the Artic and there were many different books around the classroom about the Artic and a igloo in the classroom. Also students brought things into class about the Artic and got to share them with the class. I imagine these types of activities are very exciting for the students because they got to share their personal items with their peers. Another thing I really enjoyed was the many different activities the students were allowed to do in the morning for their reading and writing. They did something new every day like work on the computer, read and write in their journals. This is very productive because it allows the students to do different thing every day. When students do the same thing every day they tend to become uninterested. Overall I really enjoyed my first week and I am very excited for the next couple of weeks.
